The GINI Index, originally developed by Italian statistician Corrado Gini, measures inequality in societies through the distribution of income (relative wealth) among individuals or households. A perfectly equal distribution shows as 0, while an index of 100 shows perfect inequality. The data is published annually by the World Bank Research Development Group.
