Healthy Life Expectancy (HALE) measures the number of remaining years that a person of a certain age might live without disability. HALE is used as an indicator to monitor health for productivity and economic reasons. The data is published by WHO, and is used, amongst other things, for policy making. HALE is comparable to HLY (Healthy Life Years) within the EU, measured by Eurostat.
