The total greenhouse gas emission values shown in kiloton of CO2 equivalent shows the total addition of man-made greenhouse gases to the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide (CO2) makes up the largest share contributing to global warming and climate change, other gases are nitrous oxide (N2O), hydrofluorcarbons (HFCs), perfluorcarbons (PFCs) and sulphur hexafluoride (SF6). The data is published annually by the European Commission, Joint Research Centre.
